High expectations have been set for teachers. Teachers must correct disruptive behavior, check for signs of abuse, teach everyday life skills (e.g. balancing check book, paying taxes, buying a house, etc.), protect their students, and so much more. In addition to all of this, they must attempt to educate every student in their classroom, despite their unique skills and needs. Fortunately, there are many resources available to assist educators as they work with students on the autism spectrum or those with visual or auditory disabilities, emotional behavioral disorders, or learning disabilities. Many students, however, have more than one disability or limitation. For example, many students are both at risk and have a mathematical learning disability. Some sources even define this group of students as ‘unteachable’ due to the various limitations they experience. Despite this popular belief, these students are teachable and, in fact, possess limitless potential. So, what are the best teaching strategies and assistive technologies for this group of students? This site contains the results of my research.
